If a document is password protected from edits, without that password we are limited in what can be done. The main that can be done is recreating the document.
This article will explain how to take a password protected PDF and recreate it in usable format.
- Open the protected document
- Go to File > Print
- Select a virtual printer
- Recommended Windows 10 users select Microsoft PDF
- Enter a name for the file and select your save location in the save screen prompt
Warning
This will lose several aspects of the original including:
- The meta data of the original files since you are creating a new file.
- Bookmarks contained in the original.
- Form Fields of the original
If that is a concern it is best to attempt to get the password for the original documents to enable editing.
