Remote Desktop Troubleshooting

If you find yourself out of the office and using remote desktop that once worked but now is not here are the list of steps to try to narrow down the cause of the issue.

  1. Make sure you are connected to either your personal hotspot or a local Wi-Fi connection.
  2. After verifying Wi-Fi connection try to browse the internet. This also applies to your phone if using the same Wi-Fi.
    • This will make sure you do not have to authenticate with the network you are on. 
    • Common issue with hotels, airports, convention centers and even free Wi-Fi at coffee shops.
    • Personal hotspot is the best recommendation for a consistent experience.
  3. Make sure you are receiving your DUO prompt on your phone after entering your correct password.
    • It is often helpful to first make sure to close the DUO Mobile app if open in the background.
    • If after closing the app you are still not getting the prompt open the app to check for the green banner at the top that says "1 Request Waiting"
    • If you do not see the green banner, and you do not either see an entry for Friday, Eldredge and Clark or the entry has a Reconnect button please email 400@fridayfirm.com.
  4. Windows 10 Users OnlyIf you receive your first DUO prompt but not the second please email 400@fridayfirm.com. This usually means your PC is off or unreachable on the network and we will need to take action in the building.
