A new method for downloading YouTube videos without possibly shady software, plugins or unsavory sites has been found. This new method uses only the browser and VLC media player already installed on your PC.
Steps from video above:
- Open VLC media player from the start menu
- Find the video on YouTube you would like to download.
- Select the web address for the video
- Drag and drop the video's web address on to an open VLC window
The video may begin playing when it loads. - Press CTRL+J on your keyboard to open the Codec tab of the Current Media Information window
- Click into the "Location" field at the bottom
- Use CTRL+A on the keyboard to select the entire location address
- Use CTRL+C on the keyboard to copy the selected address
- Return to the browser, then open a new tab.
- Paste the address into the address/URL bar at the top and go to the page
This will load a page with only the video that will start playing immediately. - Right-click the video, then select "Save Video As"
- Browse to the location to save your video and name it appropriately.
All videos will default to videoplayback.mp4
